Individual Rat Registration

Use this form to register a rat that is not from a litter that has a litter number or existing NARR registration number.  This could be for a rat that has heritage unknown to the registry or for one that has registered parents but the litter wasn't registered. If the rat has a litter number, please use the Litter Member Registration Application. If the rat has already been registered, please use the Transfer of Ownership form.

To complete the Individual Rat Registration Application:

  1. Download the form here: (Right-click and select "save target as" if the form fails to load in the browser)
    individual.pdf
    344kb
  2. On the form, mark the appropriate membership type that applies to you.
  3. Unless the rat was purchased from a pet store or adopted from a rescue, enter the Breeder's information in the spaces provided, . All rats registered with a breeder's prefix MUST include contact information for the breeder, as well as adequate ancestry to justify the prefix. If that breeder is not NARR registered, they may be contacted to verify any supplied pedigree information.
  4. Enter your information in the spaces provided for "Owner's Information" - be sure you enter a correct and current e-mail address, as this is how your registration number will be sent to you.
  5. Enter the rat's information in the spaces provided for "Rat Information"
    • The rat's name is limited to 28 characters, including any Prefix, Suffix, spaces, and punctuation.
    • Include information on  color, markings, coat and ear type, and eye color. If you are unsure, you may leave these blank and supply a picture of your rat along with your application for assistance in determining the appropriate variety.
    • Supply any health information you have relating to this rat.
  6. If the parents were not registered or do not appear in the database, this form must be accompanied by a three (or more) generation pedigree:
    • Created by a pedigree program such as Breeder's Assistant
    • Or using the blank pedigree form: (Right-click and select "save target as" if the form fails to load in the browser)
      pedigree.pdf
      103kb
    • Mark any missing ancestors as "unknown". Rats with a prefix must include known ancestors for the prefix to be accepted.
  7. Print, sign, date, and mail the application with the appropriate fees (if applicable), or fax the form to the number listed on the member's only page of the main site.
  8. Your rat's registration number will be e-mailed to you after the application is received and the rat's information entered into the database (typically this takes less than a week, but could take longer).
